Columbus v. Sporting Kansas City (Pictures)

The theme for Sunday was late.  I was already running late to Crew Stadium for the 4:00 kickoff against Sporting Kansas City when a car caught fire on the freeway, forcing me to sit in a traffic standstill (everyone was safe).

I finally made it to section 139 about 30 seconds into the game.  Less than ten minutes later, Kansas City took the lead from a C.J. Sapong header.  Columbus did not look to be mustering much of an offensive effort throughout the majority of the game, even though their playoff hopes greatly relied on a point or three.

Finally, in the 91st minute, the Cardiac Crew came through again.  This time, an Eddie Gaven header tied the game for Columbus, 1-1.  While a win would have allowed the Crew to completely control their playoff destiny with two games remaining in the regular season, the tie does keep them only one point behind the Houston Dynamo for the fifth and final spot in the Eastern Conference.
