Columbus Crew Offseason (Gardner Picked, Rusmir and Prim Waived)

With the 7th pick of the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft, the Montreal Impact selected left-back Josh Gardner from the Columbus Crew.  Gardner started 21 games this year and contributed to the attack with two goals and assists in his first year with the Crew.

Shaun Francis will be the likely replacement for Gardner.  Francis earned the starting left-back spot in 2010, but was plagued by injuries most of last season.

The day was a busy one for most MLS rosters.  Along with the Expansion Draft, many players were waived.  Serbian Dejan Rusmir and Argentinian Santiago Prim were both waived from the Crew roster.  Rusmir made 18 appearances last year, but his performances left much to be desired.  Prim mainly saw action in the MLS Reserve League.

Be Massive.
