Crew v. Dynamo Preview (September 14th, 2011)

The Columbus Crew play their second home game in a five day span on Wednesday night (7:30), as the Houston Dynamo come to visit Crew Stadium.  The Crew are coming off a 4-2 loss at the hands of Toronto FC on Saturday night.  The Dynamo most recently played at Sporting Kansas City’s Livestrong Park on Saturday, losing 3-0.

Columbus is 11-9-7 (40 points) this season, currently tied for first place in the East.  Houston is currently 8-9-11 (35 points) and are sitting in fourth in the East, still battling for a playoff spot.

When the two teams met earlier in the year, Columbus came away with a 2-0 victory on the road, with goals from Andres Mendoza and Bernardo Anor.

Forward Emilio Renteria won’t be playing on Wednesday.  He picked up a concussion after colliding with Toronto FC’s golie Stefan Frei on Saturday.

Prediction: Crew 1-2 Dynamo

Columbus is in a rough patch right now.  They have allowed ten goals in the past two games.  Houston is in need of points in the battle for the third spot in the Eastern Conference in order to make the playoffs.  Another disappointing game for the Crew is looming, unless the team can pull together and fight through this final stretch of the season.
