Klinsmann Remains Winless As U.S. Coach

Jürgen Klinsmann and the U.S. national team lost to Belgium at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Tuesday, 1-0.  The loss leaves Klinsmann’s record as U.S. coach at a unflattering 0-2-1.

The U.S. have only scored one goal under Klinsmann in three games.

Nicolas Lombaerts scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute.  The U.S. couldn’t clear a long throw in by Belgium, and the ball fell to Lombaerts right outside of the box.  His left-footed half-volley beat American goalie Tim Howard and went into the right side of the net.

Columbus Crew midfielder Robbie Rogers started his second consecutive U.S. national game, but he didn’t impress and was subbed off at halftime.

The U.S. is scheduled to play Honduras next in a friendly match on October 8th at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.
