Crew Defeat Revolution In Reserve League, 1-0

The Columbus Crew defeated the New England Revolution at Crew Stadium Monday morning in a reserve match, 1-0.

Rookie forward Justin Meram scored the only goal for Columbus in the 88th minute.  After a Crew free kick, the ball bounced around and fell to Meram’s feet.  He kicked the ball into a empty net to secure the win for Columbus.

Defender Shaun Francis made his first appearance of the year for the Crew after being sidelined with a hamstring injury since preseason.

Substitute Santiago Prim had to leave the game early after being injured by a tackle right before Meram’s goal.

New trialist, Arnhold Rivas, 21, came on for the second half.  The forward/attacking midfielder is currently under contract with Tecos of the Mexican first division.  He will stay with the Crew through Thursday.  Rivas has one cap with the senior Mexican national team.
